- Fernando AlonsoAlonso, who spoke in an interview with Spanish outlet AS, stressed how he would want to sign out of Formula 1, considering himself among the best. The 44-year-old also hinted at his plans to enjoy what could be his final years in
F1.
“When I leave Formula 1, I want to leave it the way I am now, considering myself the best. And for people outside, at least 30 or 40%, to still consider me the best. Alonso: ‘I would like to know so I can say goodbye’
Fernando Alonso, who had previously taken a hiatus from Formula 1, stressed how he would approach a potential farewell. The Aston Martin driver detailed that if 2026 turns out to be his final season, he would like to savour every moment.
“I thought about it in 2018, when I left F1. I do remember that feeling when I went to Japan, and at other Grand Prix where it hadn't been announced yet, and I was already flirting with the idea of it being my last year.”
“So I tried to enjoy the drivers' parades when I left the paddock on Sundays. They're pits, tracks, or hotels that I'll never see again in my life, and in my head, I would like to know so I can say goodbye, internally, to each circuit.”
