Let’s take a look at the two main headlines from today, Tuesday, 12 August, in Formula 1, with the summer break underway.
The summer break is underway after the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, as McLaren's
Oscar Piastri leads the world championship standings.
The Australian's teammate, Lando Norris, took a significant victory last time out to cut Piastri's points lead down to just nine points with 10 rounds to go.
While we eagerly anticipate Formula 1's return at the Dutch Grand Prix, some of the grid have been active on social media.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has been enjoying a holiday in Corsica, while
Charles Leclerc has been on holiday with his girlfriend, Alexandra Saint Mleux.
Lewis Hamilton has endured a stuttering start to his time at
Ferrari with no podium finishes before the summer break.
The seven-time world champion did have a brief upturn in form earlier this year in China as he won the Sprint, but has lagged behind teammate Leclerc for most of the year.
Despite being 42 points behind the Monegasque, Hamilton has had some more competitive races, such as fourth-place finishes at Imola and in Austria.
It has also come up in reports that Hamilton has a clause in his Ferrari contract that would allow the 40-year-old to extend his stay at the Scuderia until 2027. He signed a multi-year contract that lasts until the end of 2026, that also includes an option to extend for 2027.
