F1 Today | Vowles over the moon with Sainz, What upgrades will teams bring?

A day after it was announced that Carlos Sainz will sign for Williams, James Vowles appeared in front of the media including GPblog, answering the process behind signing the Spaniard. After Red Bull also announced that Sergio Perez will stay for the rest of the season, their sister team also confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo will stay on until the end of the year too. Talking to GPblog among others, Williams team principal James Vowles was happy to answer questions about his future driver, Carlos Sainz Jr. The Spaniard will join the British team at the end of the season, and has multi-year contract with the team. To Vowles, it was a surprise that Mercedes or Red Bull did not want to give a contract to the three-time Grand Prix winner, he answered to us. Talking about when he first made contact with Sainz, Vowles declared that it all started last season, and called this a 'monumental' moment for Williams.
