F1 Today | 'Red Bull make proposal to Verstappen camp', while Norris warns Antonelli

German newspaper BILD have reported that Red Bull are working on a new contract for their four-time world champion Max Verstappen. The deal would see Verstappen receive a huge pay bump, but does not include an exit clause like his current contract.

Verstappen's current contract includes an exit clause that allows him to leave the team if he is not in the top two of the drivers' standings by the summer break. He is currently sixth in the championship, meaning he can leave Red Bull if he chooses to do so. However, he is in no rush, as he has until mid-October to make a decision.

BILD report Red Bull are trying to extend Verstappen's contract, which ends in 2028, by a further season until the end of 2029. That would take his stay with Red Bull to 14 seasons.

The report states that the ball is in the Verstappen camp, although the Dutchman is said to have not yet made a decision on whether to accept the reported extension.

Lando Norris has joked that Kimi Antonelli should feel the pressure following the McLaren driver's victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The result moves the reigning drivers' champion to 91 points behind Antonelli at the summer break with still more than halfway of the 2026 season to go.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Briton warned the Italian with a big smile when asked about whether he could chase him down during the second half of the F1 season. "How many points behind am I? He should feel the pressure, that's for sure. That will be done in like two races... or ten."

He added: "But I mean, the pressure is on him for sure. There's no pressure on me, I've been feeling very confident. They've been making more mistakes as a team, and we've made less and we've certainly come strong, but I expect them to still win races and expect us to win more races, we just need to be perfect."
