F1 Full Results | George Russell dominates Azerbaijan FP2 session

The Mercedes driver who topped FP1 by four tenths, was even more impressive in FP2, finishing 0.552 seconds clear of Kimi Antonelli. The Italian missed half of FP2 after he was forced into an engine change after pulling off track with an issue during the morning session.

Max Verstappen was the best-performing non-Mercedes driver but was over eight tenths down on Russell at the top. The Dutchman did show some strong long run pace at the end of the session but also ran off circuit at Turn 15, temporarily bringing out the yellow flags.

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth, although concerningly they were both more than a second off the top.

The red flag was brought out after 20 minutes as Arvid Lindblad clipped the wall at the castle section, before taking a second shunt further up the hill to bring his car to a stop. The session got underway after a 10 minute red flag, with Oliver Bearman instantly pulling off track with an engine issue which stopped his running.

Lando Norris was down in sixth fastest but likely would have been third if he didn't pit on his fastest lap. Pierre Gasly, Oscar Piastri, Isack Hadjar and Esteban Ocon rounded out the top 10.

Hamilton is set to be investigated after the session for impeding the Racing Bulls car of Liam Lawson. The New Zealand driver was not impressed with Hamilton, exclaiming over the radio: "Oh my god, that is so dangerous".

Traffic could become an issue in qualifying on Friday, with Alex Albon also getting traffic in the middle of the castle section, although Pierre Gasly did not have anywhere else he could place his car.
