A very striking case of theft during the British Grand Prix last weekend at Silverstone. The steering wheel of a
classical Formula 1 car on display was taken. The police have
released images after the theft where the perpetrator was seen wearing a very conspicuous outfit. Someone saw the historic racing car and thought they had found a nice
souvenir by taking the steering wheel of the car. A photo has been shared of the likely perpetrator. Notably, the person who probably
took the steering wheel was wearing a McLaren shirt. The police have since
called on people who know him, so that the man can be found and the case
can be clarified.
After the race weekend in England, the Northamptonshire
Police, the police force from the county whose name it bears, have stated that 20
arrests were made during and around the British Grand Prix. In total,
the police have also reported 34 violations including
theft, damage caused, and possession of drugs.
Not just any Formula 1 car
The Formula 1 car from which the steering wheel was stolen was a
tribute to the late
Eddie Jordan. The Irishman had an aggressive form of
bladder and prostate cancer to which he eventually succumbed at age 76.
He passed away on the
night of March 19th to 20th.
