Alexander Albon weighed in on the buzz of the past few hours sparked by Toto Wolff’s comments on the RB22 and its Red Bull–Ford power unit.
“What we’ve seen so far is it’s not just that it’s strong on the straights — it looks more consistent in terms of its deployment, it looks like the drivability is strong.

The comments made by the Mercedes team principal yesterday caused quite a stir, after he went as far as describing Red Bull’s new power unit and car as the “benchmark” in terms of energy deployment, playing down the pre-season talk of Mercedes being the favourites.
Speaking to GPblog among other media, the Williams driver also praised the RB22, not only for its straight-line speed but also for its drivability.
“I think in terms of corners there’s a few teams that are competitive. I think the top four teams are all good in all the squiggly bits, but the Red Bull is strong on the straights,” he said.

“There’s a lot of lap time at the moment just in drivability and making the car feel smooth in the most simple way. That’s actually a lot of the work that’s been done yesterday and today.”
