In the summer of 2020, former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton got into an argument over the Black Lives Matter debate. Ecclestone is now attacking the Brit again for a different reason. Ecclestone calls Hamilton's slow contract negotiations pure theatre.

Is the Hamilton-Mercedes negotiation fake?

Things got heated between the two last summer. Now that tempers have calmed, Ecclestone again chooses to attack Hamilton. The 90-year-old billionaire is not happy about the contract negotiations between Hamilton and Mercedes.
Initially, team boss Toto Wolff and the driver had promised that a deal would be signed around Christmas 2020. However, the world number one has still not signed with the team for 2021. Among other things, Hamilton would like more money and demands a more ecological course from Mercedes.

Ecclestone is upset about the slow pace of the negotiations and is going all out, saying to Swiss newspaper Blick: "It's all just a show so that Lewis in particular stays in the headlines during these dreary weeks."
According to the Swiss medium, the former F1 boss is referring, among other things, to Wolff's words that would further fuel the theater game. Indeed, Wolff said, "Maybe Lewis has another surprise in store!"
