With his ninth place during the Grand Prix of Hungary, it was a dramatic weekend for Max Verstappen. His RB21 lacked balance and both the Dutchman and Red Bull were unable to make an impact. Robert Doornbos expressed criticism of the Austrian racing team after the Hungarian weekend came to an end. Doornbos mentioned on the Ziggo Sport Race Café that it was noticeably clear that Verstappen was not happy during the race: “You could hear on the radio that he [Verstappen] was done with it. This made his engineer go silent on the radio, because what else can you say?”

Doornbos sees 'unworthy of Verstappen' race
Then Doornbos added: “This is unworthy of Max. He almost went into overdrive, with that action involving Lewis Hamilton for instance. He takes an incredible amount of risk, because you think: 'Then I might as well race at the limit with what I have'.
''But of course, there was no speed, and it's quite worrying. If you have all the practices, because it's not a sprint weekend. It's just a normal Grand Prix weekend, with just three hours of testing. If you can't find a balance in that car in three hours, and not in qualifying and racing either…”
“Then it's not, as Helmut Marko claims, a snapshot. Helmut is always positive, which is good, so positive about the team. But honestly, you have a problem on this type of circuit, where they generally did well in previous years. That's a painful reality.”
This means Verstappen enters the summer break with a staggering 97-point deficit to Oscar Piastri. George Russell, however, gained on the Dutchman by finishing third behind the McLarens.
Verstappen still remains third in the drivers' championship for now.
