Jack Doohan's stint, though short-lived, is something the young Australian 'will be very proud of' as his time as a full-time F1 driver has come to an end, being replaced as Pierre Gasly's teammate at Alpine by reserve Frando Colapinto.
Why is Doohan being replaced? Executive advisor and acting team principal Flavio Briatore claims it's 'out of necessity', to prepare themselves as much as possible ahead of the pivotal 2026 season.

Doohan admits it's tough and shifts focus to his personal dreams

Whereas his replacement, Colapinto, is eager to deliver strong results for the French team, for Doohan, however, the outlook is much different naturally, as the young Australian will step down to a role as reserve driver.
“I am very proud to have achieved my lifelong ambition to be a professional Formula One driver and I will forever be grateful to the team for helping me achieve this dream," said Doohan in a press release issued by Alpine.
"Obviously, this latest chapter is a tough one for me to take because, as a professional driver, naturally I want to be racing. That said, I appreciate the team’s trust and commitment."
"We have long-term goals as a team to achieve and I will continue to give my maximum efforts in any way I can to help achieve those. For now, I will keep my head down, keep working hard, watch with interest the next five races and keep chasing my own personal goals,” concluded Doohan.
