Domenicali happy with Monaco GP extension: 'We look forward to being back'

The Formula 1 calendar for the 2023 season has been officially announced by the FIA, and with it, the high word is also out regarding the Monaco Grand Prix. The historic race through the streets of Monte Carlo will remain on the programme for at least the next three years, much to the delight of F1 president Stefano Domenicali.

Domenicali is delighted with the new F1 calendar, which includes a record 24 races. He also stresses the importance of finding the right balance between traditional circuits and new venues, as global interest in F1 grows rapidly. Many feel Monaco should not be missing from the calendar because of the historical value the venue has for the sport, but for now, they need not fear for the future of the iconic race.

"I am pleased to confirm that we will be racing in Monaco until 2025 and excited to be back on the streets of this famous Principality," Domenicali said in a conversation with Formula1.com. "I want to thank everyone involved in this renewal and especially H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club of Monaco and all his team. We look forward to being back next season to continue our partnership together."

Boeri, president of the Automobile Club of Monaco, is confident that racing in Monte Carlo will continue beyond 2025. "We are proud to announce that we have signed a three-year agreement with Formula One, and likely to be renewed," Boeri said.
