AMuS doesn't rule out that Red Bull has found extra engine power

After the most recent update to the Honda power unit of Verstappen and co, Red Bull have managed to find some 14bhp of extra power on the straights, sports medium Auto, Motor und Sport reports in an analysis of Saturday's race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

After the qualifying session of the Grand Prix of Styria Lewis Hamilton again emphasized the higher power of the Honda engine compared to that of Mercedes. Verstappen didn't want to hear it and promised to give the journalists prints of the Red Bull rear wing in the future.

Despite this, sports medium Auto, Motor und Sport Red Bull has indeed gained speed since the Honda update in France. The team did this in full compliance with the regulations, by not tinkering with the reliability of the power unit instead of the power output.

AMuS says: "According to the regulations, changes to the engine to increase performance are prohibited. But every engineer knows that with improved reliability, sharper mappings can also be activated without damaging the drive."

Specifically, this adjustment translates into 14 hp of extra power on the straight, AMuS reports: "The competition has calculated that the Red Bull should have gained 10 kW, i.e. almost 14 hp."
