Max Verstappen has captured pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix, but the Dutchman did so after contact with the wall. The contact is also clearly visible in photos after qualifying.

Hitting the wall in Monaco

In his very last run in the third part of qualifying, Verstappen still managed to grab pole for the Monaco GP. The Dutchman was just under a tenth faster than Fernando Alonso, who had set his time just before. Verstappen had another scary moment, however, as he briefly hit the wall.
In Monaco, you can easily hit the wall, as Sergio Perez experienced in the first part of qualifying, but Verstappen hit the wall in a very special place. It happened on the final straight. Verstappen let it be known over the board radio, and pictures by F1 journalist Albert Fabrega show that there are spots on the Dutchman's Pirelli tyres. All's well that ends well, thankfully.
