Claire Williams has come under a lot of personal criticism for Williams' downfall over the past few years. Many have posted comments about how she is to blame and the principal of the Formula 1 team has had enough and has decided to speak up about the issue.
"As soon as you are no longer successful, people immediately throw it at me being a woman," she told news agency PA.
“One time someone came to me and said that many people in the paddock thought that the team went down when I became pregnant and had a baby. How dare they? Can I not have a child because I am a woman who leads a Formula 1 team? It is despicable behavior and a very 19th-century mentality.”
Motorsport in general is not a very diverse sport and by speaking out about her struggles, Williams will hope that she can put an end to sexism in Formula 1.
