Carlos Sainz did not have the best of qualifying sessions in Hungary, after he was eliminated in Q2 by his teammate Charles Leclerc. The Spaniard will start tomorrow’s race from P11 on the grid.

'Very close grid'

"Today the grid was very tight. I knew before qualifying that it wasn't going to be easy to get through Q1 and Q2, because we're all in a tight spot. The medium compound, which is the one to do Q2 with, I've been struggling all weekend, the first sector and I can't get it up to temperature, and I knew that Q2 was going to be difficult because of this," Sainz told DAZN ES after qualifying.
The Spaniard also said that the new qualifying format was not bad, but he does not like the effect it has on the practice sessions. "I don't think it's bad, the practice sessions were very boring for us because we didn't have any tyres to run and I guess for the fans as well. Doing qualifying with different compounds is neither good nor bad for me, but it's more the free practice that we waste time getting here on Wednesday and then not running almost on Friday and Saturday because there are no tyres."
