In preparation for Fernando Alonso's retirement, Auto Motor und Sport asked Carlos Sainz what it would mean for Spain and F1 should he announce that he is leaving F1. Sainz, also Spanish, replied with a very honest and firm answer prior to the Summer break.
Today, Fernando Alonso announced his departure. Many fans took to Twitter to suggest they're not feeling as sad as they thought after his announcement, they're more sad about the performance of the car he was sat in during the last few years of his career.
