The Canadian Grand Prix will look a little bit different this season after renovations to the paddock area. The Canadian government supplied the circuit with $59 million cash boost to make the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve future proof.
The main focus will be on the facilities on the paddock that were built in 1988 so that the current FIA standards can be ticked. The capacities above the pit boxes, currently good for 1,800 visitors, will rise to a maximum of 5,000.
The main building of the paddock will consist of three floors which, in addition to the team garages, also house the control tower, as well as the office space for staff. Various lodges and media rooms are also part of this and there will be a roof terrace on the third floor.
The project is said to cost 59 million Canadian dollars and is funded by the city itself, as well as the national government.
