Can De Vries finally make Q3? 'You have to make right decisions'

Nyck de Vries' Formula 1 seat currently seems to be hanging by a thread. The 28-year-old Dutch driver has yet to score a point in Formula 1 this season and Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has already given him the 'yellow card.' What can De Vries do at Silverstone this weekend?

When the AlphaTauri driver is asked if he can finally make Q3, he dares not venture a prediction. "I mean, unknown. We don't know. That's the reality. I'm sorry. I don't really know what to say. The whole field is super tight. In those conditions, it's not always the true picture," De Vries told GPblog and others.

"You need to get the timing right, make the right calls at the right time. You have such limited time where you need to get things together. I think that becomes much more important than the ultimate performance in those conditions," the Dutchman told.

Rumours are circulating that Alex Palou would replace De Vries at AlphaTauri after the IndyCar season. Marko is said to fancy the Spaniard. The IndyCar season ends on 10 September. This would mean that De Vries would still be behind the wheel at the Zandvoort race.
