Zak Brown is still disappointed that the partnership between McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo has not been successful. However, the CEO of the British formation wants to turn his focus on the future and does hope to surprise with Oscar Piastri.
Piastri's arrival caused a lot of commotion in the Formula 1 world. Alpine thought it would take up the Australian as Fernando Alonso's replacement, but it turned out he had been in talks behind the scenes with McLaren for some time to act as Lando Norris' teammate next season.

McLaren looks expectantly at Piastri

Although Alpine tried to stop his switch, McLaren was soon told that he could join the team. It was good news for Brown, as he expects a lot from Piastri. According to Brown, the young driver has everything to be very successful in the motorsport class in the coming years.
"We think Oscar’s going to be a sensational racing driver," he responded in conversation with Racer. "If you look at his career to date, he’s won a lot of championships in his first year which always tells you a driver’s special. He’s got a great mental approach to the sport, and now that we feel that Lando has a lot of experience we feel like we have a great blend of experience and youth."
