Eric Boullier is still confident that he is the right man to be at the helm of McLaren F1 team, despite not bringing the team back to past glories.
McLaren have had a solid, if unspectacular start to the 2018 season after switching from Honda to Renault engines.
Their points total of 40 from the first five races has already eclipsed their total from last season as they battle Renault for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
They are currently one point behind the French team.
There has been speculation over Boullier’s position however, as an overhaul at the team looks likely to happen. Three technical chiefs are reported to have left McLaren, but Boullier believes he is the best person for the job.

“It’s hard work. There’s always lots of expectation, especially from McLaren and from a lot of people.
“I think in the past, I’ve been managing, rebuilding, restructuring a few teams and I won with all of them, in any category I was.
“There is some constant improvement in every team as well. It’s part of life of a Formula One team, to keep looking at how to deliver better and more.”
