Liam Lawson has continued to impress in the 2026 Formula 1 season, with his performance at the Singapore Grand Prix earning him second place in the weekend's Power Rankings and lifting him to fourth in the overall standings.
The Power Rankings are compiled by five judges who assess each driver's performance over the weekend, taking into account their individual contribution rather than simply their finishing position or the capabilities of their car.
The Racing Bulls driver enjoyed another competitive outing at Marina Bay, delivering strong performances across both qualifying sessions and the two races. His efforts did not go unnoticed by Formula 1's judging panel, which ranked him among the weekend's leading performers.
Only Max Verstappen received a higher rating in Singapore, with Lawson finishing ahead of several drivers competing in considerably more competitive machinery.

Lawson moves ahead of Norris and Russell in F1 season rankings

The Singapore result has strengthened Lawson's standing across the entire campaign. With 17 rounds completed, the New Zealander has risen two positions to fourth in the season-long Power Rankings, recording an average rating of 7.6 out of 10.
Kimi Antonelli remains comfortably ahead of the field with an average of 8.7, followed by Verstappen on 8.2 and Lewis Hamilton on 7.7.
Lawson is now the highest-ranked Racing Bulls driver and sits above several established names. George Russell, Pierre Gasly and reigning world champion Lando Norris share fifth place on 7.5, while teammate Arvid Lindblad occupies eighth with a 7.4 average.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's Isack Hadjar are further behind, both averaging 7.2 and sharing ninth position. Lawson's rise is particularly notable given that Racing Bulls have spent much of the campaign fighting in the midfield. His position reflects the impression he has made on the judging panel throughout the year rather than the number of championship points he has collected.

Lawson opens door to surprise racing opportunity in 2027

Away from Formula 1, Lawson has also set his sights on another major motorsport event, having recently expressed interest in taking part in the 2027 Race of Champions.
The competition is set to take place in Wellington, New Zealand, with former Formula 1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas among the confirmed participants. For Lawson, the prospect of competing on home soil against some of the sport's biggest names is particularly appealing.
Lawson recently welcomed the possibility of joining the event, although his participation has yet to be confirmed. It would offer the New Zealander a rare opportunity to race in front of his home crowd, with Formula 1 currently having no Grand Prix in the country.
