Back to reality for George Russell

George Russell has admitted it was a case of back to earth for him and the Williams team at Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix. Russell had an excellent qualifying day, almost making it to Q2, qualifying 16th.
Russell started the race at the Hungaroring from 15th on the grid after Antonio Giovinazzi was handed a three-place grid penalty for an incident during Q1. The rookie went for a one-stop strategy swapping onto a fresh set of hard tyres on lap 16 which saw him all the way to the end of the race.
Russell made up a couple of positions during the early stages of the race and despite being brought back to reality with a P16 finish, admitted it was nice to be able to challenge for a change.
"Yesterday definitely exceeded expectations, so it was a little bit back to reality today," Russell said on the Williams website.
"I had a good first lap and made up two positions on Magnussen and Kvyat at turn four and five, which was pretty fun.

"It was nice to be racing other drivers. We’ve still got work to do but there are a lot of positives to take from this weekend. We’ve made a good step forward."
