The president of the Automobile Club d'Italia Angelo Sticchi Damiani says the expectations for Ferrari are "enormous" after the changes made. Mattia Binotto was announced as Maurizio Arrivabene's replacement following his departure.
According to reports, tensions between Binotto and Arrivabene were growing strong last season and continued into the winter break. Damiani suggests now these have ended, Scuderia has no more excuses when coming up against Mercedes.
"The message is clear. There can no longer be any misunderstandings. The results can no longer be doubted because of communication problems," the Italian said in an interview with Corriere Dello Sport.
Ferrari hasn't released any further details regarding the reshuffle on the pit-wall. Binotto's current role as Cheif Technical Officer is yet to be fulfilled, but Sticchi assumes he will create a dual role.
"The appointment of Binotto and especially the merger of the two most important roles within the teams is a sensational development, but it means one thing: you have to win two world championships right away."
