McLaren's spirit is one of innovation. The Woking-based team as every benchmark in F1 before them, is not afraid to push the envelope of the most intricate technical aspects of the sport. Their latest eye-catching update to the dominant MCL39 has now been revealed.
Anyone who believes mermaids have nothing to do with F1, they better think again. McLaren's front wing shows a series of mini-flaps on each side, in the form of mermaid tails.
Earlier in the day the FIA unveiled the upgrades teams had brought to Canada. In the description of McLaren's updated front wing the team said: "A revised front wing geometry aiming at improved aerodynamic performance across a wide range of attitudes, through a redesign of main elements as well as introduction of 'mermaid tails' to the front wing endplate."
