Andretti angry at F1 teams: "We deserve more respect"

Throughout this season, Michael Andretti has been working to set up an eleventh Formula One team. For a time it looked like Alfa Romeo would be sold to the legendary motorsport family, but that deal went off the rails. This leaves setting up a new team as the only option, which Andretti was already well on his way to doing.

The FIA had already handed in all the necessary paperwork, but within Formula 1 they are not waiting for a new F1 team. According to the former F1 world champion, Liberty Media also plays an important role. He thinks the teams get too much say in important decisions, which didn't happen in the era when Bernie Ecclestone was in charge of Formula One. "They always ask how we want to be competitive. I say: let that be our problem! You don't know our preparations."

Within Andretti Autosport, therefore, they are waiting for the green light to be given and they can start with the concrete preparations. Contracts with engine supplier Renault are said to be ready and also their star driver is said to be fixed. According to the German medium, Colton Herta is top candidate to make the switch to F1 with Andretti. "We've been planning our program for a long time because it's all we want.
