Alpine does not expect teams to protest about the so-called Flexiwings. Red Bull Racing, among others, was part of the discussion last week because of the use of the rear wing, but Alpine director Marcin Budkowski would not consider a protest fair.
Budkowski says he would be surprised if teams would protest about the Flexiwings. He claims that the FIA has created this problem by not clarifying the situation for the teams. Although some teams still benefit from the current regulations, the French Grand Prix will take place next month.
The Alpine director himself does not see the problem in the current race weekend, he stated in an interview with Formel1.de. "In reality, every wing bends a little bit. The FIA has now decided that they are going to tighten up the control, all right. They've given us time to do it and we'll stick to it."

Alpine first free practice

Alpine had an excellent first day. While Fernando Alonso finished sixth during the second free practice, Esteban Ocon achieved the ninth time. Both drivers were ahead of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas and can look forward to Saturday afternoon's qualifying session with confidence.
