Fernando Alonso is looking forward to the race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas with high hopes. The two-time world champion sees his team improving every weekend and thinks the circuit suits Alpine well.
There were quite a few concerns about the bumpy tarmac in Austin, but Alonso doesn't share those concerns. "I think it's a very nice circuit for Formula 1," he told Speedweek.com. "The aerodynamics of our cars fit perfectly in the first sector with its fast corners."

Alonso has no problems with bumpy tarmac

"There are a few bumps, as seen at MotoGP. But that has been worked on in some places, so I expect slightly better conditions when we go onto the track," continued the Spaniard. "The bumps are also part of the character of the circuit and I don't think it will be a problem."
Alonso's statements came ahead of the first free practice session, which ended less well for the Alpine driver. Whether he remains so positive will be seen after Friday's second free practice, assuming his team can fix the problem in time.
