Fernando Alonso did a great job in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix last Saturday. The Alpine driver drove to second place on the grid in difficult weather conditions. For Gerhard Berger this is proof that the Spaniard can still achieve great things.
The two-time World Champion has had a long career, with both highs and lows. However, at the age of 40, he is far from winding down, the former Formula 1 driver said in a conversation with Motorsport-magazin.com.
Berger still enjoys Alonso's qualities. Although there are drivers in Formula 1 who have more world titles behind their names, Berger believes that in Alonso's case this is also down to bad luck. "Alonso could have had five world titles with his talent. He is a brilliant driver," he said.

Alonso is still at the top of his game in Formula 1

Alonso is doing so well for his age that Berger believes the Madrid-born could still be in contention for the world title if he drove for Red Bull Racing or Ferrari. "Yes, I am one hundred percent sure," said Berger, who expects Alonso to score plenty of points for his team this season.
