From a potential FIA regulation change that could force Red Bull to rethink one of their technical innovations for 2027, just as Max Verstappen returns to winning ways, to Haas confirming a major shake-up of their driver line-up with the arrival of Brazilian talent Rafael Câmara as Esteban Ocon's replacement. Here are today's main F1 stories.
FIA reportedly plans 2027 rule change affecting Red Bull innovation
The FIA is reportedly preparing to modify the 2027 technical regulations, potentially forcing Red Bull to abandon a design feature introduced earlier this season.
According to reports, the governing body intends to reduce the permitted allowance around the floor body stay from 20mm to just 5mm. The proposed adjustment would close a regulatory loophole that Red Bull have exploited to create a more aggressive sidepod undercut on the RB22.
F1 technical expert Craig Scarborough previously highlighted the solution, explaining how Red Bull positioned a structural cable along the lower edge of the sidepod to take advantage of an exception to the bodywork regulations, allowing the team to create sharper aerodynamic surfaces than would otherwise be permitted.

The innovation first appeared at the Austrian Grand Prix in June, with Audi subsequently adopting a similar approach in Azerbaijan. If approved, the regulation change would require both teams to redesign the affected area for 2027. However, the proposal has yet to be officially confirmed, and both designs remain legal under the current rules.

Haas confirm Camara as Ocon's replacement for 2027
Haas have announced that Brazilian prospect Rafael Camara will join Oliver Bearman for the 2027 Formula 1 season, replacing Esteban Ocon. The 21-year-old has signed a multi-year agreement with the American outfit, earning his promotion while leading the Formula 2 championship with Invicta Racing.
With two rounds remaining, Camara sits top of the standings on 207 points, having claimed victories in Spain, Belgium and Azerbaijan. His campaign also includes six podium finishes and five pole positions. The Brazilian won the Formula 3 championship in 2025 before stepping up to F2 this year. He has also been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2021, meaning Haas will field two Ferrari-backed drivers next season.
