Alonso confident as performances hit ‘better than ever’ level

Fernando Alonso believes he is performing better now than he did when he was at the top of Formula 1 two decades ago..

"Better than ever," Alonso said in Singapore when asked if he is performing at his best.”
He continued: "I think so. I think last year and this year, probably the car is not where we see in the standings.
"I think we have some issues behind [the scenes] and we've been dealing with some weaknesses that I think are not too obvious sometimes from the outside."

20 years ago, Alonso won his first ever Formula 1 world championship. The Spaniard thinks that he is performing better now.
"But I think personally some of the performance of this year and last year were not possible 20 years ago. That's my opinion.
"That's why I'm relaxed, I'm happy, I'm enjoying and I'm confident for next year," he concluded.

Alonso scores points again in Singapore

Although Alonso initially finished eighth, he moved up a position following Lewis Hamilton’s five-second penalty for cutting corners.
The incident drew interesting reactions from both drivers. Over the team radio, the Spaniard was clearly not happy with Hamilton cutting corners having brake issues.
“I cannot f****** believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?” he commented.
On Monday, the British driver also shared a story on Instagram, reflecting on Alonso's comment.
