After an 18-month stint at Red Bull's flagship, Alexander Albon has not been able to prove himself strong enough and has a role in the background for 2021. In a message on social media he now expresses his disappointment at this recent development.
“I can’t lie guys, it hurts,” Albon admits frankly. “I gave it everything out there, but it wasn’t quite enough.”
Throughout the season, Albon had great difficulty keeping up with his Dutch teammate, and he was often way behind in terms of pace.
Albon continues, as quoted by Motorsportweek.com: “I’m not giving up, I’ve poured my life into this and I won’t let it stop here. I have more to give and my focus is getting back for 2022 and to wave the Thai flag again.”

Albon also took a moment to thank his fans for their support. He says: “With all the different opinions out there, I always had you guys to push me through it.”
Albon will stay at Red Bull next year as a test and reserve driver.
