Max Verstappen scored a convincing victory at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, putting him twelve points ahead in the world championship for the time being. Josh Suttill was impressed with the performance.
The journalist tells in conversation with The Race that he gives Verstappen the best chance of winning the world title. "On a weekend where Mercedes experienced yet more engine reliability concerns and lost to Verstappen and Red Bull at a circuit where it has only failed to win once in the hybrid era, it feels as if a very, very tentative title favourite claim is forming," Suttill reveals.

Verstappen's chances increase

With five races to go the excitement in Formula 1 continues to build. The GPs of Mexico and Brazil are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, and Verstappen looks to have a good chance of winning again. However, Suttill does not yet dare to say that with certainty.
"It means Verstappen has the potential to edge closer to the magic race win advantage (26, including the fastest lap), which would protect against a DNF, if he can win in Mexico. If Verstappen can repeat his majestic 2019 win at Interlagos, he’d set himself up very nicely for the final three races. But that’s just a feeling left by this Austin weekend."
