Andretti also approached Haas F1: 'No concrete talks'

Michael Andretti is planning to take over Sauber, which will mean the disappearance of Alfa Romeo Racing from Formula 1. In case of a takeover, we will probably see a team with the name 'Andretti Autosport' on the grid in 2022. According to Guenther Steiner, Andretti has also approached Haas F1 on occasion.

Steiner hints to Crash.net Steiner hinted that he had had some conversations with Andretti. "I spoke with Michael a few times, not lately, honestly. I don’t know what Michael is trying to do. Everybody knows each other in American racing and maybe there were talks, but maybe not as concrete as you think they are.”

So there were never any serious negotiations, but things are different now with Sauber. Andretti had reportedly hoped to announce during the United States GP weekend that negotiations were complete, but the process has been delayed somewhat, according to the latest reports.

Haas F1 at the bottom of the pile

Haas F1 will be hoping to do better in the pinnacle of motorsport next season than in recent years. The team of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin is currently in dire straits. However, the American team has said that they are fully committed to 2022 and the new regulations, so the expectations for next year are much higher.
