The Formula 1 teams have completed the first two free practice sessions in Hungary. Many drivers complained about the tyre temperature while driving, including Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. This makes the strategies in the weekend even more important than usual.
Mario Isola, leader of Pirelli's Formula One division, saw on Friday that the next two days are going to be exciting. "With a bigger gap between medium and soft than we expected for now, getting through the Q2 session on the medium isn't guaranteed for anybody. So there's plenty for the teams to think about tonight," he stated to Sky Sports.
With that, the chief noted a change from last year. "In comparison to last year, the warmer conditions allowed the soft tyre to perform very well over a single lap. Nonetheless, there could be an advantage in starting on the medium tyre for the grand prix, so this will be a consideration for the qualifying strategy."
