Perez aims for podium: But Mercedes will be very strong this weekend

Sergio Perez did not have a good day at the Austrian Grand Prix, despite being on target for a podium finish. He will be looking to put that race behind him and concentrate on Silverstone, where his team may need him.

That's exactly the attitude of the Mexican driver, who says he's looking forward to the British Grand Prix. "I'm feeling positive and pumped up for this weekend, hopefully, we can get onto the podium again," he said in a Red Bull Racing press release. "It will be interesting to see the new race format for Formula One too."

"As a team, we have put in a lot of effort to understand the new race format, a lot of preparation and practice has gone into this weekend. It will be very different for everyone, it's definitely exciting and I hope that the hard work pays off."

The Red Bull Racing driver is therefore looking forward to the weekend in a positive light but sees that Mercedes also has good papers. "I saw Mercedes talk about upgrades so I'm sure they will be very strong this weekend. We will, of course, try our hardest as well and hopefully, we will be able to come back up on top. Let's see what happens," Pérez concludes.
