Marko criticises new pit stop guidelines: 'They don't match our times'

Red Bull Racing seem to have perhaps the fastest car for the first time in years. But while that's going extremely well, one of their other weapons is being partially curbed. Red Bull have been dominant in the pit lane for years, and are the only team to regularly produce pit stops under two seconds.

This will come to an end from the Hungarian Grand Prix. The mechanics will have to take their hands off the car for a minimum of two tenths before it is allowed to drive away. This is because of safety reasons. With this the chance that a car drives away with a loose hand would become a lot smaller.

Helmut Marko therefore absolutely does not agree with these new guidelines and thinks the teams that support this proposal are just bad losers. "We've seen that with the pit stops they don't match our times. So I think the request to change the regulations is completely wrong. In any case the safety argument doesn't hold water," Marko concluded at Sky Deutschland.

"It's part of the show. The spectators are really waiting to see if our pit stop is under two seconds. That can be decisive for the outcome of a race. Now we're not allowed to touch the car for two tenths of a second before it takes off. What they want to achieve with that is beyond us."
