The Turkish Grand Prix has returned to the 2021 Formula 1 calendar. Turkey had already been drafted as a replacement for the Canadian Grand Prix, but coronavirus lockdown procedures from England, where many F1 teams are based, meant this was impossible. The Turkish GP will replace the Singapore Grand Prix, with the race taking place on Sunday 3 October.

Turkey returns

The Turkish Grand Prix is an event that many Formula 1 fans are excited about. In the years that the Istanbul Park Circuit was on the calendar it always provided good racing, and the race that was held in 2020 was also a true spectacle. Turkey was also supposed to return in 2021 as a replacement for Canada, but it couldn't be organised due to coronavirus measures.

Now the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 calendar later this year. Turkey has replaced the cancelled Singapore Grand Prix, forming a Triple Header with Russia and Japan. Turkey is the middle race. However, there are still question marks over the Japan GP with the MotoGP race already cancelled earlier this week.
