In March it was announced that former Red Bull Racing and Alpha Tauri driver Daniil Kvyat will join the Alpine team as a reserve driver. Dr Helmut Marko has now completely ruled out a return to Red Bull or AlphaTauri in Formula 1 for the Russian.

In an interview for Motorsport-total, Marko is asked if Kvyat has a chance of making a comeback at Red Bull. "Absolutely not. We are focused on working with our current drivers, but he also has a contract at Alpine," Marko added.

Gasly and Perez

Marko is also not yet willing to comment on the other drivers, according to a previous interview with Formel 1. "As far as I remember, Pierre Gasly's contract runs for two more years, so either at Red Bull Racing or Alpha Tauri. But as I said, we are not thinking about lineups. We will think about it and make a decision during the summer break."

Marko has expressed doubts about Alpha Tauri rookie Yuki Tsunoda, but he is slightly less concerned about Sergio Perez, who has a one-year contract at Red Bull. "The positive thing is that Perez is performing in the races," he said. "Sometimes he is even at the level of Max Verstappen. But we need to find something extra in qualifying. That's where we need to see improvement." Around the summer more will become clear about Red Bull's plans, and even Nico Hulkenberg would be an outsider for a seat.
