Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 1 debut with Haas F1 next season. Guenther Steiner will have not one but two debutants in his team in 2021. Nikita Mazepin has also made the switch from Formula 2. The team boss thinks he knows what kind of treatment the two young drivers need.

"Both have proven their talent, but they are still very young, you should never forget that," Steiner told F1-insider. Therefore, mistakes will follow, which drivers with a little more experience would not have made. ''But you have to allow that too. They have to learn from that. 2021 will be a year of preparation for 2022 for all of us."

2021 a gap year

Next season can be seen as a bit of a gap year for the American racing stable. "Then (in 2022) we want to attack and finish in the top five of the constructors' championship. That is why we are already concentrating on next year's car in the wind tunnel," the chief executive explained.

From the media there will be a lot of attention for Mick Schumacher, the son of. Steiner will try to keep the German in the shadows a little. "The expectation from the media will be extreme because he is the son of the record world champion. But you can't expect Mick to win seven titles as well. I will protect him when it matters because I am convinced he will succeed. You just have to give him time. The same goes for Mazepin."
