Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri have taken their time to announce their reserve driver for the 2020 Formula 1 season. However, the question has now been answered as Sergio Sette Camara will take on the role for the year ahead.

Last year Camara finished in fourth place in the Formula 2 championship. The 21-year-old Brazilian has therefore earnt enough points for his Super License to be allowed to drive in Formula 1. That immediately gave the job at Red Bull Racing, who sponsored him in his youth.

The Brazilian, with his role as reserve driver, will come to work alongside Formula E driver Sebastien Buemi, who until recently was the only substitute for the team. Camara is ready and looking forward to the start of the season.

"I am extremely happy to be part of the Red Bull family as an official test and reserve driver alongside Sebastien," said the driver who will also compete in IndyCar this year.

"I have been watching Formula 1 since I was five years old and I am honored to work with Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri."

During the winter test in Barcelona, GPblog.com asked team boss Franz Tost which drivers and who would act as reserve drivers this season. The Austrian reported at the time that there were still several candidates and they have now made their decision.

It will be interesting to see how Camara manages his time as racing in IndyCar will clash with a few Grand Prix's throughout the season.
