Mercedes introduced a new PU ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix weekend, but Sergio Perez's engine broke during Friday practice. The SportPesa Racing Point driver will complete the rest of the weekend with an old spec-2 unit.
Perez finished the second practice in 5th place, behind only Mercedes and Ferrari. He finished ahead of Max Verstappen while his teammate, Lance Stroll finished in P8.
