Yesterday Marcus Ericsson was spotted walking around the paddock in Alfa Romeo gear. Rumours have been flying around saying that Kimi Raikkonen may not be fit enough to drive this weekend and that Ericsson could be in line to replace him. Raikkonen intends on trying to drive and has given an update to the media.
"I stretched a muscle, nothing more," said Raikkönen. When asked how he gave a typically blunt answer. "Sports, injuries, getting old.
“It's getting better, so we'll see how it goes. I think it should be fine, but you never know.
“It would be stupid not to have our third driver here, should anything happen. I think that's normal. It is a difficult situation for him, because he also had a race, but it is no different.”
It is thought that Raikkonen will drive in FP1 and see how it feels. If he can't continue for the rest of the sessions then Ericsson is in place to replace him.
