Kimi Raikkonen believes Alfa Romeo is closer to the top 10 than what it seems. He suggests the car needs more grip and they might be able to force their way into the points.

Raikkonen has been stuck on 'unlucky number' 13 points since clinching P10 in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He remains the only points scorer in the team as rookie Antonio Giovinazzi starts to improve. As a number of Formula 1 teams bring multiple upgrades to the French Grand Prix, there's just one main thing on Raikkonen's improvement list.

"We have to have more downforce, generally more grip. Apart from that, I don't think there is a specific area that really holds us up, it's mainly the grip," he told the media at Paul Ricard.

"On some circuits, we could go a bit better about the curbs, as was the case in Montreal for example. Since I started here, it has actually been the same story all the time: more downforce is the key. That makes the tires work better and they last longer."

"I don't think we are far from the top ten and we have ideas about how we can do something about it, but it just takes time."
