Vettel thinks Canada GP penalty "is not making our sport popular" as he loses win

Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel thinks the ruling of getting a five-second penalty and thus losing his win during the Canadian Grand Prix is bad for Formula 1, as the German was denied his and Ferrari's first win of the season with Hamilton finishing within five seconds of Vettel.

Furious with the decision, Vettel initially refused to give interviews after the race had ended, storming off to the Ferrari motor home. He was forced to come back, however, to stand on the podium, and gave an interview after.

When asked whether this decision would be important for the title race, Vettel thought it was more a question of principles rather than the title race.

"It is not about the title now, we deserved to win now and that is our opinion," the German said at the post-race press conference. "It was a great race, they [the crowd] cheered me on all the race. It's a bit weird now, I don't know what else to say."

Vettel also thinks the decision isn't great marketing for Formula 1 as a sport, seeing race winners being stripped from their wins in such a way.
