Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes his team were "lucky" to win at the Monaco Grand Prix, and wants the Silver Arrows to learn from its victory.

Lewis Hamilton was victorious in Monte Carlo, after Mercedes put the five-time world champion on the medium compound tyres. Hamilton's tyres were in a bad way and his car was running very slowly for the latter stages of the grand prix.

Max Verstappen did his absolute best to put the Brit under immense pressure, but he couldn't find a way past a stern Hamilton. Wolff believes Mercedes were fortunate to record its sixth successive victory and wants the Silver Arrows to learn from its luck in Canada at the weekend.

"I think going back to normal race tracks, we need to accept that we, in terms of tyre life, need to learn from Monaco and understand why that was because this situation in Montreal, we lose the race," Wolff said, as cited by Race Fans

"I think from a mindset, we must never be carried away by saying 'we are flying at the moment, and it's going to continue like this'. Our mindset is that we were a bit lucky to eventually win that race."
