Bahrain Formula 1 testing round up
Today's testing in Bahrain has come to an end and Max Verstappen has topped the timesheet at the end of the day with a time of 1.29.379. Many teams were using 'rookie' drivers and Mick Schumacher, who was testing for Ferrari, had a solid day finishing the day second on the timesheet with a 1.29.976. McLaren welcomed back Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso who enjoyed being back in an F1 car.
The first part of testing went well with teams able to make the most of the time to test their cars. At around midday testing was halted due to rain and as teams had not brought wet or intermediate tyres, they had to wait for a few hours to continue.
Teams tested tyres and different setups all in preparation for the rest of the season.
Testing will continue tomorrow with more younger drivers set to get their first experience of driving a Formula 1 car.
Here are the final results of the day:
Day one of #BahrainTest completed. Not much running due to the wet weather. 33 laps only for @lance_stroll. As such we will split the final day of testing with Lance driving the morning and @SChecoPerez the afternoon. pic.twitter.com/aUb1ZQ8LPz
