Max Verstappen has said that he "doesn't care" about the youngest pole record and admits that he "always expected" Charles Leclerc to be fast. Verstappen has been performing well in a tricky Red Bull whilst Leclerc has proved himself as a genuine championship contender. The Dutchman has said that he always knew Leclerc was fast and that he just needed a good team behind him.
"I always expected that," Verstappen said to GPtoday when asked about Leclerc's speed. "He has always been a good driver and therefore I think it is not very strange that he stands for Vettel. If you have a good car and you are so much stronger than the competition, you are always standing on P1 or P2. If you are just the better of your teammate, then you are first."
The Dutchman revealed that he is not interested in setting records for the youngest pole sitter.
"What should I say about that? What does it matter to me," he says with a smile. "It is true. I think that it is of little use to you anyway. Of course, it is nice, but I think other people might value it more. I don't care about that at all."

Verstappen will hope to be racing alongside Leclerc in China so he can remind the fans of how fast he is as well.
