'Daniil could move to the stronger team' says Mikhail Aleshin

Former IndyCar and now Le Mans driver, Mikhail Aleshin, has questioned if Daniil Kvyat should replace Pierre Gasly at Red Bull. Gasly had a poor start to his Red Bull career, failing to qualify past Q3 and finishing the race in 11th, outside of the points. Max Verstappen finished third, leading to questions about whether Gasly is the right man for Red Bull.

During the race, Kvyat was able to keep Gasly behind him despite being in a Toro Rosso, which would usually be expected to be slower than the Red Bull.

"It was very good to see Kvyat showing his character and not letting Pierre Gasly go past in Melbourne," Aleshin told Russian outlet Sportbox as quoted by The Express.

"It is hard to know why Gasly drove so inexpressively, but if Kvyat continues in the same spirit, we can all have hope that Daniil could move to the stronger team.

"I understand that such thoughts may be premature, but for us, this situation is, of course, positive.”

Gasly will hope that he can improve in time for Bahrain and it is likely that he will as he performed well in there last season. If he doesn't then there will be increased pressure for results and perhaps Red Bull will be forced to look elsewhere.
