Kevin Magnussen believes he should’ve matched his teammate, Romain Grosjean’s pace after the Haas pair qualified sixth and seventh with Magnussen described his qualifying lap as a “s**t lap”.
Haas continued where they left off in 2018 as both of their drivers made it through to Q3 but Grosjean was by far the happier man as he qualified with a time of 1:21.826 to beat Magnussen who recorded a 1:22.099. After a mistake in Q1, the Dane was forced to use a second set of tyres just to make it through the session and he was very critical of this.
In an interview on motorsport.com Magnussen wasn’t satisfied with his performance saying: “It was a s**t lap.
"I didn't get everything out of it that I should have and made a big mistake in Q1 that meant that I had to use another set [of tyres] to get through.
"That means you have only one set for Q3, which is crazy because we should have been so easily through on just one set in Q1.

"That was my bad, and then you do a lap, you have only one shot in Q3 and that wasn't too pretty,” he added.
