Sergio Perez has claimed Racing Point have a good inkling of whereabouts they will be in the Formula 1 grid following the pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Formerly Force India, now Racing Point, completed 625 laps throughout the winter testing - which is more than just one team (Williams).

However, the side had a "positive" final day of testing and Perez recorded his best lap-time on the Friday of 1:17.791 and the Mexican is in good spirits ahead of the new season that starts in less than two weeks time.

"It's been a positive final day in the car for me," Perez said to the Checkered Flag on Friday. "We did a lot of work and I think we have a good idea of where we stand with the car. Today was about final race preparations with lots of long runs. Every time we go out, we learn more and more and I feel ready for the season ahead."

It was a mixed season for Force India last campaign, with its on-the-track actions being excellent - but the financial troubles that arised brought a stoppage to the high spirits at the side. But Perez has some fresh motivation following the takeover of Lance Stroll's father, Lawrence Stroll.

"It's been a long winter and I'm extremely motivated: I cannot wait to start racing again," Perez continued. "Starting the season with some points would be good, but in the end it's a long season so we need to get to Melbourne and see how we really compare to the other teams."
